In this article, Sabine Wilms explains some of the ideas of Sun Simiao, “King of Medicines”, a master of Chinese Medicine who lived around 600 AD. Besides his contributions to herbal medicines, and acupuncture methods, he discussed the theory of Chinese Medicine, and developed theories of the correspondences between microcosm and macrocosm, between humans and our environment, especially in relation to the 5 phases (wuxing), the book of changes (Yijing), and the Eight trigrams (Bagua), in terms of Yin and Yang.
The linked short article discusses a few of Sun Simiao’s ideas about longevity, and cultivation of life in Chinese Medicine.
